Settle things as soon as you can.  Settle things now.  That horrible fight you pushed out of your memory will come back to haunt you at the slightest reminder.  That annoyance that you told yourself was too small to really matter has overshadowed your entire day.  Running away from your problems never solved anything.  Let yourself cry.  Let yourself be angry.  Talk to people who are willing to listen. You can only bottle up so many things…until it all blows up in your face.

Moments like these make me want to move out ASAP. I want to try to make it work. A part of me knows I am not trying hard enough but another part of me feels that it’s pointless. I want a good relationship with my parents. But I literally get annoyed or angry with every conversation I have with my mom. Tomorrow I put my foot down.

Adjusting.

19 of August, 2014

I am old enough to know that parents don’t stay around forever. They will one day grow old and won’t be able to provide for you like they once did. I know this will be true of my parents one day. I am aware that they work hard to give my brother and I, an education, food, and a stable roof over our heads. So I know I should be grateful for all that they have done. I know this but I can’t help but be annoyed when my mom tells me to go to bed like I am still 10 years old. I know but I feel my temper boiling when she makes my lunch for me. I am all too aware but yet I get angry when she insists on doing the simplest things for me. It’s so hard to be grateful when all you feel is claustrophobic, angry, and annoyed. Claustrophobic because I feel that I am not given room to grow. Angry because I feel that I am treated as incompetent. Annoyed because I am not given the chance to prove myself. I’m also afraid that I will never be able to fully explain this concept to my parents. I feel like it is completely out of their scope of understanding as Asian parents. I know that if not explained delicately, I will be branded as an ungrateful child. My mom will not listen to me and all that I will have created is bitterness and anger. Perhaps I am just painting a hopeless picture. But I know it’s true….
